Gaeilge le Chéile
Clare County Council is delighted to announce its programme of events for Seachtain na Gaeilge 2020
From cooking through Irish, to contemporary sean-nós dancing and even a County Council ‘takeover’ by students of Coláiste Muire, Gaelcholáiste an Chláir and Gaelscoil Mhichil Cíosóg, accompanied by legendary singer songwriter John Spillane, on loan from Passagewest.
The purpose of Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish language week) is to highlight the Irish language and offer opportunities to speakers of all levels and none, to engage with the language. The events are bilingual but with an emphasis on Irish, a droichead or bridge between the languages, which will hopefully spark enthusiasm for an Ghaeilge and further involvement when St Patrick’s day is over.
The County Council’s theme for the Seachtain, is Gaeilge le Chéile, Irish Together, a broad, inclusive series of events aimed at people in Direct Provision, along with anyone keen to get to grips with the language but who did not come through the Irish education system.
